Boys soccer defeats Rockhurst

The BVNW boys soccer team defeated Rockhurst tonight at the DAC with a final score of 2-1.

The game started out swiftly, with senior captain Taylor Wiebke scoring a goal just five minutes into the first half.

“It felt really good considering it was my first of the season,” Wiebke said.

Unfortunately, head coach Rick Pribyl was not satisfied with the boys’ performance throughout the game.

“We were playing very good soccer until we scored the goal,” Pribyl said. “I think the boys started to think this was going to be an easy game and they kind of went back on their heels and we played some poor soccer.”

Two minutes into the second half, senior captain Sam Taylor made another goal.

“The second half came out and when we scored the goal that really helped us focus,” Pribyl said.

With thirty minutes left in the game, Rockhurst junior Robert DeWitt made the final goal, bringing the score to BVNW 2, Rockhurst 1.

“We just fought hard and to the end we knew it was going to be a battle,” Wiebke said.
