Boys soccer defeats Blue Valley West

After taking a week off from games at the conclusion of the Fat Cat Tournament, the boys soccer team returned to the field tonight to claim a victory over BVW.

The BVNW boys soccer team defeated Blue Valley West (BVW) tonight with a score of 3-1.

In the first 15 minutes, senior Sam Taylor scored a goal, starting the team off on a strong foot. Following that goal was a point scored by sophomore Brandon Stanczak with two minutes left in the first half.

BVW battled back in the beginning of the second half by scoring their first goal of the night. With 18 minutes left in the game, junior Trevor Kerns scored the final goal of the game.

“I feel like we had a little bit of a rough start but we’re getting better,” Kerns said. “I think we’ll be good by the end of the season.”

Kerns said because the boys varsity soccer team is relatively young, they are still working on progressing together. He added that their team is focusing on getting the chemistry going, and once they get there they will be in a very strong position.

Head coach Rick Pribyl agreed as he said the team looked good tonight.

“We played really good on the ground,” Pribyl said, “And we played excellent possession.”

Pribyl said the improvements he sees from the players are evident with each game, and he is looking forward to the rest of the season.

“Each game we seem more and more like a team,” Pribyl said.
