Meet Chris Legleiter, new administrator
This year, BVNW welcomes many new staff members to the team. One of these staff members is Chris Legleiter. Legleiter will be taking over as the administrator for the graduating class of 2017, as well as the assistant principal for activities.
According to Legleiter, he had seen the school within the district while working at Blue Valley West, and thought of it as a great school.
“I chose [BVNW] because of its welcoming environment and I wanted to be a part of it,” Legleiter said. “I went into education because I enjoy working with people. I do what I do not for myself, but for others.”
Legleiter was chosen for the job due to his previous experience within the district, principal Amy Murphy said. He has been a biology teacher and an administrative intern at BVW, and also an assistant principal at Prairie Star Middle School. Murphy said he is well-respected within the district.
“I think [Legleiter] wants to be here, which is always important to me,” Murphy said. “I want people at [BVNW] who want to be here, especially administrators that want to be here. I’m hoping that with his desire to be here, he’s going to want to be here for more than a year, so maybe he’ll bring some stability in the district.”
Having worked as an administrator before, Legleiter said he is familiar with the environment and enjoys interacting with the staff, students, and parents.
Legleiter spent most of his schooling years in St. Marys, Kan. According to Legleiter, he enjoys simple things in his free time such as reading, being with friends and family, and spending time outdoors.
“I prefer teaching high school because there are more ways for students to get involved,” Legleiter said. “I hope to bring the best to the school, helping students do their best and reach their full potential.”
