Odd Future Brings Life To Music Industry

Odd Future (Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All) is an underground group of rappers who, for some reason, don’t get as much recognition as they deserve. I myself am not the biggest fan of dark rap music, but I am captivated by Odd Future and the raw lyrics that let you into the musicians personal lives.

With members including Tyler the Creator, Frank Ocean, Earl Swearshirt and Hodgy Beats, Odd Future gains diversity which shapes the music into stories. Each song is a mash-up of a few members. With such dark backgrounds and strong opinions each song has a different tone and leaves you thinking about what it means for the rest of the day.

The group has been known for their crazy antics and strong, crude lyrics, but that’s what makes them different especially in a world where original music is so hard to find.

The group’s first so called “album” was simply called 12 Odd Future Songs, and included 12 Odd Future songs. As the group became more popular they began touring, started their own label and released their debut album on March 20 2012, The OF Tape Vol. 2.

With such explicit lyrics Odd Future will rarely, if ever will go on the radio. Although they have made appearances on live TV shows like Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and the MTV Woodie Awards.

If having a giant group of talented musicians wasn’t enough, the group has made other rap groups like MellowHype with Hodgy Beats and Left Brain, Earl Wolf with Tyler the Creator and Earl Swearshirt, Sweaty Martians with Earl Sweatshirt and Matt Martians and more.

Each group is a little different, but still finds time to collaborate together to continue making music as one .

Repetitive and mellow music forces the listener to concentrate on the lyrics, and not only listen, but also understand them. I’ll admit, Odd Future isn’t a “happy go lucky” group, they are dark, mean, straight forward and somewhat scary. But I can guarantee you, they’re one of the most real and original group of musicians out there.
