The Protein House brings nutritious food to Corbin Park
Staff writer Lizzie Lively tries popular dishes from The Protein House’s new location in Corbin Park.
The Protein House opened a new location in Corbin Park, Sept. 26. When you walk in, you are presented by the front counter lined with desserts and a little cashier station. The restaurant is filled with neutral grey colors and two of the walls were full of windows. Overall the atmosphere feels like your average “healthy” restaurant.
You pay for your food first and then you find your own seat. The meal was on the expensive side as it came to a total of $22 excluding tax and tip, with the bowl being $14.99 and the smoothie being $6.99.
One of the most popular dishes at the Protein House is the Thai Monster. The Protein House website describes it as grilled hormone-free, cage-free chicken, certified angus beef steak, broccoli, asparagus, green onions and house made spicy thai peanut sauce, topped with chopped peanuts.
It only took around ten minutes to come out. It didn’t taste like your normal Thai bowl, but rather tasted fresher and healthier. The sauce was creamy and tasted like peanuts. It didn’t taste spicy at first, but the spice kicked in later. The chicken and steak were both delicious and it tasted surprisingly good, even with the broccoli and asparagus. All the flavors compliment each other well. It was a satisfying and tasty dish.
I also decided to try a smoothie with the bowl. I originally ordered the Tropical Tease, but they accidentally gave me the Ms Skinny. I wasn’t too mad because the smoothie was creamy and flavorful. According to The Protein House website, it contains strawberries, pineapple, vanilla whey, and coconut milk. The most prominent flavor was the strawberries. The pineapple flavor was not as prominent, but rather coconut milk and vanilla flavor.
Overall, the meal was delicious and it heated up really well the next day. If you are looking for a healthy and flavorful new restaurant, The Protein House offers exactly that.
