Boys Varsity Basketball Defeats Rival BVN

The boys varsity basketball team faced off against BVN during an away game Friday night. The Huskies held the lead for most of the game, and went on to defeat BVN 57-39.

Junior David Salach won the tip to start off the game, and BVNW led BVN 16-13 at the end of the first quarter. The Huskies had a strong first half, going into halftime with a 10-point lead over BVN, 27-17.

BVNW held their lead throughout the second half, leading BVN 39-28 at the end of the third quarter, and ultimately won the game 57-39.

According to head coach Ed Fritz, the team played really well and worked together to secure the win. Fritz said this win means many good things for the team.

“This win means we are three games up on everybody in the conference for the conference championship,” Fritz said.  “It means we are still undefeated and the best in the state, which is right where we want to be.”

Junior Clayton Custer said the win can be attributed to teamwork, strong shooting and good ball control. He said he knew the team was in control at the beginning of the second half, and worked to seal the win.

“Anytime you can beat Blue Valley North, it makes us happy, especially at their place and in front of their crowd chanting stuff at us,” Custer said. “It makes us feel good to win this game.”
