Girls soccer defeats BVN

The girls soccer team took the field yesterday to face EKL rival Blue Valley North (BVN). The team continued their ongoing win streak with a 2-0 win over the Mustangs with goals scored by junior Cece Kizer and senior Erin Dimon.

Kizer’s goal came within the first few minutes of the game, and Dimon’s addition happened within the second half to seal the victory. While BVN was able to get close to scoring, the ball couldn’t find the net and senior goal keeper Scout Watson recorded yet another shutout on the season.

Kizer said overall the team did well with only a few minor errors.

“We hit the ball over the goal too much,” Kizer said. “We need to fix our accuracy and our coordination for later games.”

Head coach Rick Pribyl said the team performed great against a long-time rival, but even with said success, there are multiple aspects of the game Pribyl thinks could use work.

“We haven’t perfected anything yet,” Pribyl said. “There’s never a point of perfection, so we’ll just work until we get close to there.”

The team will be reworking their strategies for their game against Staley HS next Wednesday, Pribyl said.

“We’ll be working on our passes and our catches,” Pribyl said. “There’s always going to be room for improvement, and we need to work on achieving our maximum.”
