The boys baseball team continued their win streak from Monday’s 5-0 win against ON with a 9-1 victory against Shawnee Mission South (SMS). The team got to work early, scoring two runs right off the bat in the first inning and continued to build on their lead for the rest of the game. The Husky defense only allowed one run and only a few solid hits.

“We played well,” senior Clayton Custer said. “The team came out and we were focused. As long as we stay focused we can keep on winning games.”

Both head coach Corby Lange and Custer agree  the boys worked as a team with one goal. Despite the early success, Lange said there is much to improve on to continue winning.

“We just need to keep building on our success,” Lange said, “We need realize that we have to come out ready to play hard. They’re playing great, I’m not surprised.”

Lange said the team did well working together to win the game. According to Lange, the team was finding ways to get on base and trusting other teammates to help them.

“They played really well,” Lange said. “Our pitchers are throwing strikes and they’re trusting defense. They’re a good group, they care about each other and they play hard. That’s really all you can ask for.”
