A win for the history books
The BVNW boys varsity soccer team wins the Top Dawg tournament for the first time in school history.
The BVNW boys soccer team defeated rival BVN 1-0 tonight in the championship game of the Top Dawg Tournament. With a win over the Mustangs, this marks the first time in school history the Huskies have won their own tournament.
The first half was uneventful, and at halftime the score remained 0-0. At the 47 min mark, BVNW sophomore Peyton Brown scored the only goal of the night.
“I thought I played better tonight than most games, I really had my touches down,” Brown said. “It felt great to know that we made history for the school.”
Although BVN had many opportunities to retaliate, they were never able to sneak a ball past the Huskies’ goalie, junior Sam Glass. Glass had many key saves which kept BVN from tying or winning the game.
“I think the boys did really well today, our goalie certainly had a good time,” head coach Rick Pribyl said. “It’s neat that the boys had a chance to make history for our school, they were excited and so were [the coaches].”
