BVNW Loses Varsity Soccer State Semi-Finals To Wichita Northwest

At the Varsity soccer state semi-final game against Wichita Northwest High School, BVNW lost with an end score of 0 to 1.

Wichita made their first and only goal during the beginning of the second half. BVNW attempted a goal with 6:57 left in the second half, but was not counted due to an off-side call by the referees.

Senior Luke Jordan said that BVNW outplayed Wichita Northwest,  but BVNW did not have the intensity at the beginning of the game that was displayed towards the end.

“I felt we really outplayed them, we possessed a lot more, we had shots all through the second half, and it was just a big shame they got the goal right at the beginning of the game” Jordan said. “I think we definitely let them get the better of us at the start and I think we really woke up towards the end of the second half, that’s when we got all our shots and got possession of the ball. I wish we had started the game that strong.”

Prybl said playing the consolation game will be tough for the players because they gave it their all during the game.

“They gave it everything they had and I have a lot of confidence in these kids,” Prybl said. “There are sixteen seniors and they have played together since they were little kids and they are friends and great students and they are just all around great kids and hopefully they will find a way back. It will be tough.”
