In BVNW theater’s Thursday performance of Thornton Wilder’s “The Skin of Our Teeth,” the BVNW cast brought the audience to their feet at the end of the three-act play.  This satirical show starred seniors Keith Klein, Maggie Boyd, Mackenzie Beaman, Sam Sweet and Mia Murphy.  Thursday’s performance was the second production of “The Skin of Our Teeth.”  Set in the apocalyptic New Jersey town of Excelsior, the play follows a stereotypical American family through crisis and come to the affirmation of man’s ability to endure struggle.

Cast member senior Zach Kochuyt said that Thursday’s performance was adjudicated, or critiqued, which will determine whether the play will qualify for state competition.

The third and final performance of “The Skin of Our Teeth” is scheduled for Friday at 7 p.m.  Friday’s performance has an alternative cast, the understudies Cori Moffett and Morgan Sterrett replacing Makenzie Beaman and Maggie Boyd respectively.

According to Boyd, Thursday’s performance is a step up from Wednesday’s performance because the sets were improved and the cast performed better. Boyd said the audience enjoyed the play because there was a lot of laughter, which is a sign everyone had a good time.  Friday’s production will be different with the understudies, but Boyd said it will be a good show.

“I think the understudies are going to be awesome tomorrow,”  Boyd said.  “They have worked so hard.  I’m so excited to see their performance because I know it’s going to be awesome.”
