Eight high schools participated in the first annual EKL Art Competition that was held at Gardner Edgerton High School. The awards included five Best in Show, 30 first, second and third place awards and there were awards for an art history competition and a sidewalk chalk competition. BVNW took third place overall in the competition with BVH in first and BVW in second. Thirty pieces that were chosen to compete in EKL will be displayed in the gallery for viewing.

BVNW won the art history competition. The participants in the competition were: Lily Timberlake, Liz James, Megan Murphy, Collin Baker and Grant Dyer.
