The BVNW We the People team competed at the state competition on Feb. 11 and took first place.  We the People is a government competition where competitors tackle questions about the Constitution and its applications.

Now that BVNW has taken first, the team will continue on to the national competition in April. The national competition in held in Washington D.C..

Senior Sarah Green said that through the majority of the competition, she felt excited and nervous, but the awards ceremony was suspenseful. There was a lot of joy and relief to find out it was the BVNW team headed to nationals, senior Garrett Brown said.

“I knew we had given the best performance we could give and it would be good news for us, but I didn’t dare hope we got first place for fear of jinxing it,” Green said.
