Coming off a volleyball season riddled with Covid-19 restrictions and an elimination in the first round of the playoffs, head coach Molly Haggerty and senior Ellison Gracik said the team is ready to get back in the game and take this year’s state championship.

“We really hope to go to state this year. I mean we practice six out of seven days a week and don’t put in all this effort just to throw it away like that,” Gracik said.

Last season, the team had to take time off from practicing together due to certain Covid restrictions. Junior Alayna Pearson saw the break as a chance to focus on her game.

“[The break] was a good time for me to focus on getting better and to really appreciate the game itself,” Pearson said.

Coach Haggerty said the team is looking forward to beginning a normal season of volleyball and wants everyone to come and support them.

“It’s a super fun game to watch. It’s fast-paced, and the athleticism it requires from our athletes is unlike any other sport. It’s a really great group and I think they’re going to do great things this year. So come out and watch a game,” Haggerty said.
