Reaching the Midwest
November 15, 2013
Continued from “Mary Beth Tinker: Taking Her Rights on a Tour:”
The tour does not end with the East coast –the partners will finalize their fall trip with a visit to Kansas City, Mo.
“It’s going to be great to finish up in Kansas City,” Tinker said. “In a way, the tour is like a tour of my life. We started at the Quaker meeting house, in Philadelphia, and being a spiritual Quaker was so important to my family. Then before Kansas City, we’ll be coming back from Harding Middle School, which was where I suspended. I spent about 30 years of my life in Missouri, so to end up in Kansas City is very special to me.”
Tinker will speak at Blue Valley West High School on Monday, Nov. 25. BVNW newspaper, yearbook and Beginning Journalism students jumped on the opportunity and will take the field trip to hear Tinker speak of her experiences.
