In rainy conditions, the BVNW boys varsity football team kicked off their season with a loss against Saint Thomas Aquinas with a final score of 6 – 10 on Aug. 31.Senior Reed Coda scored the first and only touchdown for the Huskies’ in the first quarter leaving BVNW in the lead 6-0. Late in the second quarter, Saint Thomas Aquinas scored a field goal, making the score 6-3. Late in the fourth quarter, Saint Thomas Aquinas scored a touchdown, putting the Saints in the lead 6-10.“It seemed like we were going pretty good most of the game,” Coach Mike Zegunis said. “It seemed like we were the better football team. It was tough conditions to play in though”Zegunis said the team is still optimistic and excited. This was just a little bump in the road. He said they were going to work hard to get back on the right track.
“I’m feeling confident about the upcoming season. Tonight was a learning game and I think we are going to pull through and step it up to have a successful season,” Junior Jacob Rominger said.
