They’re here, folks!

Why was the iPhone 7 afraid of the iPhone 8? Because the iPhone 7 8….10?
Yes, you heard me.
Not only did Apple decide to skip the iPhone 9 moniker, but they announced THREE new iPhones during the Apple Special Event on Sept. 12.
They also announced a new Apple TV 4K and the Apple Watch Series 3 with cellular connection. But, let’s be honest: smartphones are Apple’s main event.
The iPhone 8 and 8 Plus were announced to replace the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, and just as the Apple Special Event was about to end, the iPhone X (pronounced iPhone 10) was announced to celebrate 10 years of the original iPhone release in 2007. While more thorough reviews will be released when the iPhone 8 and iPhone X are available to the public (Sept. 22 and Nov. 3 respectively), here is what you need to know:
- Rest in peace to the home button for it is now GONE from the iPhone X. The iPhone X is almost entirely screen and thus gestures will replace the home button. But what about Touch ID? It is now replaced by Face ID, a new system developed by Apple to unlock your iPhone and use Apple Pay that is “even safer” than Touch ID.
- The newly redesigned form factor of the iPhone 8 and iPhone X now includes a full-glass backing to allow for proper electrical conduction for wireless charging. Yes, the iPhone finally supports wireless charging. Hurrah! No more worrying about pesky lightning chords, simply place your phone on any mat or surface that supports the Qi Charging Standard and you’re good to go.
- The iPhone 8 and iPhone X now house Apple’s A11 Bionic chip which, according to Apple, is 70% faster than the A10 Fusion chip found in the iPhone 7, allowing your iPhone to be faster and more efficient than ever.
- The iPhone 8 has an updated Retina display with a wider color gamut and True Tone color correction, and the iPhone X is the first iPhone ever to have an OLED Display. OLED displays are extremely energy efficient, pixel dense displays. The same type of display is also used on the Samsung Galaxy S8 for reference.
- The iPhone 8 now has an updated camera to pick up deeper colors and also shoot in higher quality videos. The iPhone X has a new “true depth” camera system with LOTS of upgrades compared to the iPhone 7. More information will be included in the review, however this new camera system blows all competition out of the water. Not only is optical image stabilization on all three cameras (two vertical rear cameras and front-facing camera), there are now “studio” effects you can add to your photos to make them seem even more professional-like.
- Rest in peace to rose gold color options as well. Even though we all know rose gold is REALLY just glorified pink, the iPhone 8 and the iPhone X will not come in rose gold. The iPhone X is even more limited with only two color options available, silver and black.
- The iPhone 8 starts at $699 and the iPhone 8 Plus starts at $799. The iPhone X starts at a whopping $999. Even though the iPhone X is definitely a premium over the iPhone 8, you may decide to go with the cheaper iPhone 8 to save a few bucks.

Androids have had most of these features or an equivalent for many years. Androids for life. Also why are you not mentioning the new google pixel, (pixel 2) being announced?
