Varsity football loses to Bishop Miege

Friday’s varsity football game against Bishop Miege ended in a loss, scoring 36-44, Bishop Miege. Although coach Mike Zegunis said he is happy with the players’ abilities to fight back throughout the game, they have a lot to learn for the rest of the season.

“We had high hopes of coming out and playing well and winning,” Zegunis said. “It’s disappointing when you don’t.”

Senior Dalton Schoen said that while everyone gave it their best, the players were unable to execute everything that needed to be done to win the game.

“There was obviously stuff we could improve on,” Schoen said. “But we got stuff to build on, get better at. We need to all be on the same page all the time.”

Zegunis agrees that defense will have to make improvements throughout the season, but they learned what they need to get better at to be more successful.

“I know they played hard and I know they’re disappointed,” Zegunis said. “It’s something we’re going to learn from and hopefully become a better football team as a result.”
