Lagging behind BVN the first quarter, the girls were down by 7, giving BVN too many opportunities. Junior Scout Watson said they could have improved their game in the first half by working together better on defense, keeping better possession of the ball and not giving up as many turnovers.
“We kept the focus on what we were trying to do. There were times where we got away from what we were trying to do and that’s when the lead got away from us,” Coach David Glenn said.
At halftime the girls were down by 14. After their halftime pep talk in the locker room, the girls stepped up their game by moving the ball more and working together better as a team, Watson said.
“We definitely stepped up our game, we played more as team, we got more steals and we finished the ball more than we did in the first half,” Watson said.
Looking forward to the rest of the season, Coach Glenn and Watson both said the team needs to keep doing what they have been doing which is setting goals and working hard as a team to accomplish them.
“We have some places where we feel we have advantages and when we get there, we have success,” Glenn said. “We need to keep trying to succeed.”
