Despite the chilly October weather, 56 local golfers made their way out to St. Andrew’s Golf Club for the 17th annual BVNW Golf Tournament on Friday, held by BVNW’s Parent Booster Club. Players included students, teachers, local businesses and families who donated time and money to the school’s activities.

“We’re appreciative of the parents giving their time and efforts to support the cause,” athletic director Steve Harms said. “The spending nights are crucial for our coaches and sponsors. [The tournament] is a huge help to that.”

Putting together the tournament is no small task, Harms said. With the help of many sponsors and players, the turnout this year brought more participants than last year. Nearly $5,000 was raised to help support BVNW.

“The Booster Club is a huge supporter of the school,” principal Amy Murphy said. “We couldn’t do a lot of what we do if it weren’t for the support of the Booster Club.”

The individual winners in this year’s tournament were senior Clayton Custer winning Closest to the Hole, senior David Salach winning Men’s Longest Drive and parent Teri Salach winning Women’s Longest Drive.
