Recently modeling for lifestyle blogger Sarah Ruhlman of SarahScoop.com on a segment of KcLive, senior Ivana Popova got this opportunity from her internship that was due to own blog with her twin sister, Kalina.

“It was a really cool experience. I modeled a homecoming dress for PromGirl,” Ivana said.

The twin sisters created their fashion and lifestyle blog Wanderlust Vita in 2015, which has drastically gained popularity since.

“We post about fashion, travel and lifestyle,” Kalina said, “but on the fashion side of things we usually do a mixture of our own outfits.”

The Popova sisters have always had a passion for fashion. Kalina said they have always shared a love  for photography, writing and design.

“I really wanted something where I could just share what I’m interested in with a lot of people,” Ivana said. “I was just looking online and came across the world of blogging, and decided to start a blog with my twin sister.”

The twins post on Wanderlust Vita generally five to 15 times a month. Although they lack content consistency due to their demanding schedules, they post as often as possible.

“We like to put a lot of thought into our posts and we don’t want to just be putting out meaningless content,” Kalina said.

With their blog gaining growth and popularity the Popova’s have taken on a new role with their blogs and sponsors. Ivana said businesses will contact them through different forms of social media and send them fashion items to review and write about online.

Ivana and Kalina also work together as writing editors at various blogs.

Kalina currently serves as a brand ambassador for Ettica, a jewelry company based in Los Angeles, Calif.

“They send me jewelry and I have to figure out how to style it and then promote it on all of my social media platforms,” Kalina said.

Ivana said an asset to having their own blog is writing whatever they want to write about based anywhere from their mood to their interests at the moment. However, the Popova sisters also get ideas from their favorite bloggers such as Suzane and Caitlyn Covington.

“The blogging community has a lot of different bloggers and I follow a lot of fashion, travel bloggers,” Kalina said. “I get my inspiration from a lot of them. Especially how they do their fashion posts or if they travel somewhere cool to see how they write about it and express their experiences for others to read.”

Senior Elena Cox is an active reader of the Popova’s blog. The blog not only serves as an inspiration to Cox but has deepened their friendships.

“We still are close and we’ve even become a little closer because I’ll help them with their blog,” Cox said.

While the blog has brought much experience and interest to Kalina and Ivana’s lives, they both do not plan on pursuing blogging as their sole career in the future but want to continue to work together.

“We want to continue [blogging] in the future as a side job just because we’re very passionate about traveling and have always been interested in fashion,” Ivana said.

Despite all the hard work and stress that comes with running a blog as teenagers, the work between these two sisters has strengthened their relationship.

“It’s made us definitely a lot closer,” Kalina said. “We’ve always been really close and [we] work really well together so it’s kind of given us something to do together that were both very passionate about.”
