Other tips
- Chronological order: List experiences chronologically with the most recent at the top.
- Grammar: Don’t include “I” in your resume. Start bullet points with action verbs.
- Skip the objective/summary section: “Your objective is to get a job, and you’re applying to that position, and that’s your objective.”
- File format: “Make sure you submit it as a PDF so it doesn’t mess with the formatting.”
- Interview preparation: “I always recommend [bringing] a stack of resumes (to the interview),” Trader said. Print them on slightly thicker cardstock to show you put care into your application.
- Education: Include your high school and anticipated graduation date. “If you have an impressive GPA, include that, if it’s not, just leave it off,” Trader said.
- Email: Use a professional personal email rather than your school email. “Your school [email] is going to disappear at some point,” Trader said.
