Hanukkah, Nov. 28-Dec. 6
Hanukkah, The Jewish Festival of Rededication or the Festival of lights is an eight day celebration remembering the rededication of the second holy Jewish temple in Jerusalem in two B.C. This temple was the main place of worship for Jewish people at the time. There was only enough oil to keep the Temple’s menorah, one of the most important ritual objects, lit for one day. Each day in the eight-day celebration represents one day that the menorah stays lit.
