The boys swim and dive team competed in the state swim meet in six different events, taking a 12th place finish overall this Saturday.

“We were kind of disappointed in the way state went for us this year,” senior Logan Ashe said. “We were able to drop time in our events, but we just didn’t have enough guys swimming in finals for us to end up in the same place as we have in the past.”

Seniors Jeremy Grenell and Ashe, junior Joe Detmer and sophomore Colten Becker competed in the team’s relay events, the 400 yard freestyle and the 200 yard medley. Both relays placed 11th in the state.

Grenell swam in the final heats of the 200 yard IM and 500 yard freestyle, placing 12th in the state for his 500 yard freestyle.

Becker swam in the final heats of the 50 yard freestyle and 100 yard butterfly, placing eighth overall in the state in the 100 yard butterfly.

“We did well considering our team’s season overall, but I definitely think the team could come back much better next year,” Ashe said.
