Kicking off the football season

Head coach Mike Zegunis looks forward to the 2013-2014 varsity football season, beginning tonight against St. Thomas Aquinas.

As the 2013-2014 season begins, the varsity football team plays their first game tonight at 6pm against St. Thomas Aquinas. The players and coaches are excited and nervous for the first game of the season, according to head coach Mike Zegunis.

“I am pleased with what our team has done for preseason and I feel that we are all anxious to begin the game tonight,” Zegunis said.

The coaches and players are all excited for state to come, junior DJ Robinson and Zegunis said.

“I feel like we are all excited for State to come, and to play our best,” Robinson said.

Even though the work is hard, Zegunis said that he is proud of the team and how much work they have put into the beginning of the season already. Zegunis also said that he doesn’t know how good or bad the team is yet until they start to play games.

At the end of the season, Zegunis says that he hopes the team makes it to State, but he also hopes that his team plays their hardest and tries to win as many games as they can.

“We need to work together and battle with our opponents this season,” Zegunis said.
