Freshman Dance Disqualified

Due to a violation of the new guidelines set in place for Spirit Week dances, the freshman dance was disqualified and the members of the dance will face disciplinary action, according to Principal Amy Murphy.

According to freshman class sponsor, Michelle Blanco, after the dance was shown to her, the students involved in the dance added material that disqualified them from the competition.

Blanco said she was too far away to hear the exact words that the freshman said to get them disqualified but she said it had something to do with a fork.

“I was very disappointed with them, and afterwards I went directly over and spoke with them,” Blanco said. “We ended up talking again before first hour. They know that I am very upset with them and they are on a thin leash.”

According to freshman dancer Jack Knutson, they added the material to make the dance funnier.

“We are not happy,” Knutson said. “We shouldn’t have done it. We should have at least asked the representative if we could do it first. We should not have done it in secret.”

According to Murphy, the students who participated in the dance will face disciplinary action. Those students will not be allowed to dance in the next five spirit dances. This includes the two dances remaining this week and then three of the Sweetheart dances.
