In season 2, we saw Belly pick Jeremiah after going back and forth between the two brothers. Belly and Conrad have always had a deeper connection, but Conrad always pushes her away. Jeremiah is more emotionally mature and is open about his feelings, making him a more stable choice for her. With season 3 being the last season, fans are eager to see if she stays with him or chooses to go back to Conrad in the end.
Season 3 opens with Belly moving into Finch University for her freshman year of college. Belly had her whole family with her, which was surprising. Last season was full of tension, so it was nice to see a lighthearted scene of the family happy and getting along. When they arrive at Finch, we soon learn that Taylor and Steven broke up. As a fan of them, this was disappointing to find out because last season, we finally saw them admit they liked each other after being just friends for years.
After the first few minutes of episode one, we see a time jump to Belly’s junior year of college. We learn that Belly and Jeremiah are still happily together, as well as getting our first look at Conrad this season. Although I’m team Jeremiah, I don’t think Conrad’s entrance could’ve been any cooler. He walked in to “Can’t Stop” by The Red Hot Chili Peppers and seemed to have reinvented himself in the past few years. He started going to therapy, and now seems more stable and happy. He tells his therapist about how he’s nervous about going back to Cousin’s Beach. Although it wasn’t explicitly said, it is implied that it’s because of Belly and the feelings he still has for her.
We then get the first scene of Steven and Taylor since the time jump, and not only find out that they both are dating different people, but they are also cheating with each other.
Belly learns she got into the study abroad program for next school year, but is scared to tell Jeremiah because he just found out he’s not graduating. I started seeing more examples of him acting immature. Belly feels like he can’t really handle anything important or hard, which I agree with. This makes me nervous about their future together and what it’s going to look like. She ends up telling him about the study abroad program outside of a frat party they were at, and he was surprisingly very supportive. Have you ever heard of the calm before the storm? Well, we soon find out that he got with another girl during spring break. Not sure how much longer I can be team Jeremiah.
Episode 2 starts with a flashback from before spring break when Belly finds out Jeremiah is going to Mexico. This starts a big fight between them because Jeremiah never told Belly anything about spring break. Whether or not they actually broke up is unclear, as they both interpreted it differently. Jeremiah ends up “cheating” on Belly in Mexico, but then comes back and apologizes to her for acting immature and starting a fight, but never tells Belly what he did.
Steven starts to realize his feelings for Taylor and breaks up with his girlfriend. He picks Taylor up to confess his feelings, which didn’t end how he wanted it to. Taylor told him it would never work and made him drop her off on the side of the road, but as Steven is turning around, he gets hit by an oncoming car. Although Steven got into a crash, I think some good things came from it. He ended up not being hurt, and it made Taylor realize her feelings for him that she had been avoiding. When he woke up, he told Taylor that she was right and they wouldn’t work out. Taylor, not feeling the same way, storms out of the room. Belly and Jeremiah are both at the hospital, but keep their distance from each other at first. They end up going on a walk to talk things out. I think the walk worked a little too well because Jeremiah ended up proposing to Belly. With there still being nine episodes left of the season, it’s hard to predict what will happen next or who she’ll end up with. New episodes will be coming out weekly until the finale on September 17.
